Instagram announced a new update back in March for a story option that enables users to save their stories as a draft within the app and repost them anytime.
“Instagram Storie’s drafts are now available for everyone, globally. Story drafts will save for seven days before disappearing.”
How does it work?
When you exit the Stories composer in the middle of a process, this option is activated. A new alert will appear one week after you save a Stories draft, and also letting you know that the draft is being deleted. So they won’t be there waiting for you forever, but the option does provide you with additional scope for putting together more comprehensive, crafted compositions, which you can then share at the best time for your audience. The feature could be particularly handy for social media managers who are looking to post at favorable times though it is also worth noting that stories can be saved and shared in different ways, and you have been able to do so for some time.
Previously, users had the option of saving their Stories either by downloading them to their devices or using third-party apps. But those tools are not native to IG and are generally not as convenient within your creative flow. By having your drafts within the app, you’ll be able to view them as they’ll appear to users, while you’ll also be able to utilize Instagram’s full feature set in your draft creation process and post on the go via the app.
How to make the best use of it?
A method for managing your shared stories creation flow, as well as posting at the most optimal time to maximize engagement. Instagram managers wanting to make full use of the app may have to adjust their strategies a little, but it could still be a very relevant adjustment.
